Our journey begins in Gondar. The imperial city of the 17th and 18th centuries lies at an altitude of 2,200 m in the foothills of the Simien Mountains.
Today we will visit the city’s famous castle complex, where former rulers built numerous palaces for themselves and their families. Afterwards, we will go to Fasilides’ Baths. The idyllic site is the site of the annual Timkat Festival, commemorating the Baptism of Jesus Christ.
We end the day with a visit to the Debre Berhan Selassie Church, which is especially known for its beautiful ceiling paintings. The motif of the angel’s face became a popular subject in Ethiopian art.
In the evening, we have dinner at the “Four Sisters” restaurant. The restaurant is lovingly run by four sisters who prepare their dishes according to old family recipes.
